Our guarantee, our installation service, how to look after powder coated aluminium, the brochures, and the questions we are asked most often.
Warranty
Our house is our most valuable asset, and any time we make improvements we want an assurance of quality materials and workmanship. We stand behind our work and provide our customers with our 5-year guarantee on the product and the installation. Our customers can have peace of mind knowing they are fully covered by our after-sales care: if a window or door we made and fitted stops working as it should within five years, we come back and put it right. The glass and the hardware also carry their manufacturers' warranties, and Dulux publishes the care conditions for its powder coatings, which the maintenance guide below follows.
Installation
NuStyle offers a full window and door installation service. Whether you need a one-off window or a full home replacement, our team will leave you with an exceptional finish and minimal disruption to your daily schedule. The process, from the measure to the day the joinery goes in, is described on the window and door replacement page. If you would rather your builder installed, we are happy to manufacture and deliver to site.
Brochures
Our door brochures are available to download. The windows are on the windows page and the standard colour range is on the colours page. Product information for building consent is published by OMEGA, whose window and door systems we fabricate.

Maintaining Powder Coated Aluminium Joinery
Powder coated aluminium is about as low-maintenance as a window gets, but it is not no-maintenance. Four things keep it looking new.
Regular washing
Maintaining your powder coated aluminium windows and doors means regularly washing every unit, not just the sheltered parts. Treat it like caring for a new car: regular washing keeps it looking sharp. Unless you are in a harsh environment, near the sea or industry, washing every three months should do. Use a soft-bristled window washing brush from a hardware store, or a brush with a detergent dispenser for easy rinsing. Alternatively, hand wash with a mild, pH-neutral liquid dishwashing detergent from the supermarket, rinse gently with a garden hose and dry to prevent marks.
Refurbishing a weathered finish
All surfaces eventually degrade on prolonged exposure to the elements. A change of colour, loss of gloss and some chalking may appear over time, and a number of restoration techniques are possible, depending on the circumstances and the life expected from the refurbishment. For domestic refurbishment we recommend polishing with a high-quality automotive cream polish, following the polish manufacturer's instructions; this both cleans and protects the surface. Avoid polishes that contain cutting compounds unless the surface is extremely weathered. For badly scratched surfaces, use a dab stick or aerosol can of colour-matched paint, which we can supply to match your original order.
Paint splashes
Working around the house, painting soffits and the like, can leave paint splashes on the joinery. The best thing to do is to protect it by masking with a plastic drop sheet, which paint shops sell for a couple of dollars. If an accident happens, act quickly and remove the splash with a cloth soaked in water; we recommend water-based paints for exactly this reason. Using any solvent on your joinery puts it at risk, and always rinse the cleaned area with clean water immediately afterwards.
Warning: never use a solvent cleaner, because it can damage the powder coating or cause it to deteriorate and age rapidly. Common solvents such as petrol, acetates, thinners and methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) are very damaging to powder coat and must never come into contact with it. Highly acidic, alkaline, household solvent or alcohol-based cleaners are not recommended either. The same applies to every other component of the window or door: use nothing but water and mild detergent.
Sunscreen
We strongly recommend protecting your powder coated joinery from the damage some sunscreens cause. It happens when skin with sunscreen on it touches the powder coated surface. Research by the steel industry found that certain sunscreens containing semi-conducting metal oxides, such as titanium dioxide or zinc oxide, can accelerate the degradation of a protective finish up to 100 times faster than normal, through free radicals that break down the surface chemistry in sunlight and leave an indelible handprint. It is known to affect car paintwork too. The remedy is simple: use gloves or wash your hands after applying sunscreen before touching powder coated joinery, prefinished metal roofing, cladding or garage doors, and wash down any surface that may have been touched with soapy water, then rinse clean.
Frequently Asked Questions
The questions we answer most often. Product questions are on each product page.
Do you install the windows and doors?
Yes, we offer a full installation service. Another option is to have your builder install them, as we are happy to just manufacture and deliver to site.
How long does it take to receive a quote?
We aim to have a quote back to you within a few days, at most a week. Occasionally the process takes longer if we have to get quotes for part of the work.
What joinery colour options are available?
We offer the full Dulux Duralloy +Plus Solid Range as standard colours, with colours from other ranges available on request. In addition to powder coated joinery we also have anodised options in bronze, silver, champagne and black. Take a look at our colour range.
How long does it take to make and deliver the joinery?
Usually 4 to 6 weeks, but it varies with the job and how busy we are. Talk to the friendly staff at NuStyle for an accurate idea of current lead times for your job. Installation also depends on the weather: we will not open up your home if the weather is bad.
Repair or replace?
New windows offer smoother operation, lower maintenance, fewer draughts, easier cleaning and a warmer home, but they are an investment. Ask whether the old windows are a hassle, whether the rooms are comfortable, and whether the old windows are worth repairing. We walk through all three on the window replacement page.
Should I replace them all at once?
Balance the house's appearance with your budget. Even with a close match, new windows will look a little different from the old, and Low E glass, which we recommend, looks slightly different from clear glass, so replacing one or two in a conspicuous spot can look odd. A good strategy is to replace all the windows on one side, or on one level of a two-storey house, to keep a consistent look. Often the windows on one side of a house deteriorate much faster than the others.
What happens once I have accepted a quote?
Once we have your signed acceptance and a deposit, we add your job to our production schedule. If it is a supply-only job, our team contacts you or your builder to do a final measure if necessary and confirm the final sizes; the job then goes through the factory and you get a call when it is ready for delivery. If we are installing, our installer contacts you directly closer to the time to do a final measure, we manufacture to those exact measurements, and a few days before installation you get a call to arrange access to your home.
What types of locks and hardware are available?
There are single, double and four-point lock options. We use two-point locking as standard as an extra security measure. A door can have a key both inside and out (key - key), a key on the outside and a knob on the inside (key - turn), or no key outside and just a turn knob inside. Smart locks are available on entrance doors. Everything is on the hardware page.
Is thermally broken joinery worth it?
It depends on the house and the budget. Our standard, non-thermally broken joinery is still our biggest seller, and a lot of people decide a thermal break is more than they need. The thermally broken joinery page explains what it does, and we quote standard and thermally broken side by side.
Do I need a building consent?
As a general rule, replacing your ageing windows or upgrading to new windows does not require a building consent if there are no structural changes. If you are unsure, ask us at the measure or check with your council. Our guide to building consent for window and door work has more.
