Window and Door Hardware
Explore our hardware range to find the best fit for your home: the fasteners and stays on a window, the levers and locks on a door, the handles you use a dozen times a day, and the smart locks that do away with keys. All of it comes in black or colour matched to your frames.
The Hardware We Fit
Most of our hardware comes from OMEGA's Edge3 range, made to go with the OMEGA window and door systems we fabricate, so every fastener and lever fits the profile it was designed for. Two of the locks we fit most come from New Zealand lock makers: the Yale Aria Endeavour on our sliding doors and the Doric DN551 on our sliding windows. The Edge3 range is pictured as OMEGA makes it, in its plain mill finish. Yours comes in black or colour matched to the frames, and we go through the choices with you at the measure.

Hardware by Product
What goes on each product we make, so you can see exactly what you are getting:
| Product | Hardware we fit |
|---|---|
| Awning and casement windows | A single or double tongue window fastener and friction stays, with Safety or Security restrictor stays as an optional extra where and when required. |
| Sliding windows | The Doric DN551 flush pull window lock. |
| Bifold windows | Sleek low-profile handles on bottom-rolling panels. |
| Entrance doors | The Yale Apex lever set with a two-point or four-point lock, or a Yale Assure, Yale SYDM3109 or Sylvan SL41E smart lock with a pull handle. |
| Hinge doors and French doors | The hinged door lever on a long backplate, with two-point locking as standard or a four-point lock. The second leaf of a French door is bolted top and bottom. |
| Sliding and stacker doors | Most have the Yale Aria Endeavour sliding door lock: a D handle with a snib inside and a slim pull with a 5-pin key cylinder outside. The Edge3 sliding door pull handle is the other option. Two-point locking as standard. |
| Bifold doors | The bifold lever and a multipoint lock. |
Window Stays and Restrictors
Every awning and casement window comes with its stays and handles. The sash is held open by a friction stay, which lets it sit at any angle you leave it, and closed by the window fastener. Restrictor stays are an optional extra, fitted where and when required:
- Safety Stay. A non-releasable restrictor for awning and casement windows, for those with safety and security in mind. It only allows the window to open 100 mm, so a child cannot climb out of an upstairs window and an intruder cannot climb in.
- Security Stay. Designed for projected top-hung and projected side-hung windows, the security stay is adjustable and limits the sash opening to 100 mm. Release it with the key and the window opens fully for cleaning.
Restrictor stays are for awning and casement windows only; sliding windows and doors do not have them.
Locks for Doors
There are single, double and four-point lock options available. We use two-point locking as standard as an extra security measure: turning the handle throws bolts at two points along the edge of the door, so the door is pulled tight to the frame along its whole height rather than at the latch alone. For entrance doors the Yale Apex lever set comes with a two-point or a four-point lock, a proven multipoint locking solution for a front door.
Other important considerations are how the door is keyed:
- Key both sides (key - key), so the door is locked from inside as well as out. Keep a key by the door for an emergency.
- Key outside, turn knob inside (key - turn), the usual choice for a front door.
- No key outside, turn knob inside only, for a door that is only ever locked from within.
Smart Locks
For keyless entry on an entrance door we fit three proven options, pictured below. The Yale Assure is a smart deadbolt with app control, auto-unlock and integration options, paired with a sleek pull handle. The Yale SYDM3109 lets you access your home the way that works best for you, with a PIN code or an RFID card or tag for simple, convenient entry. The Sylvan SL41E electronic smart lock gives freedom, flexibility and security with a digital keypad. Yale's New Zealand product pages carry the full specifications.
Hardware Colours
All hardware comes in black or colour matched to your frames. Black reads as a deliberate accent on a lighter frame; colour matched, the handle all but disappears into the joinery.

Hardware Questions
Can my new doors be keyed alike to my existing locks?
Yes, by a locksmith. We do not offer that service ourselves. On a new order, though, all the locks can come keyed alike, so one key opens every door, or keyed differently if required.
What colours does the hardware come in?
Black, or colour matched to your frames. It is the same OMEGA Edge3 hardware either way; only the finish changes.
Can hardware be replaced later?
Yes. Stays, handles, rollers and locks are all serviceable parts, and we carry them for the systems we make. Ring us with a photo of the part.
Do the stays need any maintenance?
A wipe when you wash the joinery and an occasional light lubricant on the pivots. The maintenance guide has the routine.
Glass, Hardware, Colour and Thermal Performance
The frame is only part of the decision. The glass decides how warm and quiet the room is, the hardware how it works every day, and the colour how it looks from the street.
